by J. Christopher Guritz

A robber grabbed £27,000 of diamond rings from the counter of a jewellery shop and ran out the door.

The man, in his 20s, walked into the Lime Blue Diamond Store on George Street, Edinburgh just after 1pm on Thursday and asked to look at the rings.

When the assistant removed them from the display cases and put them on the counter, the man grabbed them and ran out the shop.

He was last seen running down Castle Street towards Queen Street and may have gotten into a dark green car.
